Spanky and Harmony, happy Westies

What a nice thing to hear about my most recent dog sitting:

“Dara, thank you so much for taking such great care of Spanky and Harmony…not only did you have 2 pooches to tend with, you also had to deal with daily insulin shots, medications and food supplements for little Spanky.

I came home to a clean house and 2 relaxed and happy little girls…well, except for the fact that they miss you!! I had a wonderful time away and was so happy to know they were in such good hands, and really appreciated the daily photos and updates.

I highly recommend your services and will definitely call on you again! Thanks, and snuggles from the girls.” -Janet Brown

Great feedback from Maya, Max & Jazz

Thank you so much for the fantastic feedback!

“We would all love to thank Dara for the wonderful care and compassion you showed us! Staying with us on the most scary night of the year (frightening people and fireworks) was the best and we weren’t alone at home! Doggie and kitty lick licks!

– Mya, Max and Jazz”

Thanks from Rusty and Porter

You went way over and above in caring for the dogs, and left the house in great shape. You did not need to do the laundry but I really really appreciated it.

Thank you again for your great care  – I was completely comfortable leaving the dogs with you. You are a very competent young woman and I trust you explicitly.”

Testimonial from Rosey

I got this great testimonial from Sherry (Rosey’s mom). I couldn’t have asked for nicer feedback!

“Dara, Whistler Dog Sitter: Rosey had a wonderful week. She clearly loved you. We talked about it a lot! She was so relaxed and happy when I got home. AND the BONUS was I came home to a clean and tidy house! I highly recommend you – worth every penny. THANK YOU!!!!”

What information to prepare for your in-home dogsitter

The logistics of having someone stay in your home and care for your dog(s)/pets is not something to be overlooked!

Here is a preparatory list before you hand over your pooch to think about so that I know what to expect.

Dog(s)

  • feeding instructions (frequency/food location)
  • allergies/any medical concerns or history
  • preferred walk routes and times
  • where he/she sleeps
  • whether on or off leash walks/runs
  • what level of daily exercise should we plan for

House

  • access
  • alarms
  • wifi password
  • garbage/recycling
  • heat/fireplace instructions
  • parking access
  • snow removal details

General

  • Emergency contact info for house and dog(s)
  • Your date / time of departure and return

Porter & Rusty – Gorgeous Gold Retrievers

I met today with Porter and Rusty, who are Golden Retrievers and 11 year old litter-mates.

They were immediately affectionate and are Rusty and Portergoing to show me around the woods where they like to run off-leash. I’m very excited to hang out with them in a few weeks!

Here they are, asked to sit nicely next to my scooter :).

Rosey is so sweet!

I love that doggie greeting when you come home and a pooch is over the moon about it. The licking, whimpering, wagging… all things I’d rather see from a dog than from my husband!

Rosey didn’t disappoint when I arrived at her house last night. She promptly took me on a nice long walk around her neighbourhood. This morning, we explored the Valley Trail near her house – an area I’ve only quickly biked through, but never actually walked along.

Coming Next Week: Rosey!

Rosie’s owner usually leaves her with a coworker, but that coworker is away next week – so I get the pleasure!

Rosie lives in Nordic, and is super happy to stay in her own home while Mom’s away. Stay tuned for photos…
