What information to prepare for your in-home dogsitter

The logistics of having someone stay in your home and care for your dog(s)/pets is not something to be overlooked!

Here is a preparatory list before you hand over your pooch to think about so that I know what to expect.

Dog(s)

  • feeding instructions (frequency/food location)
  • allergies/any medical concerns or history
  • preferred walk routes and times
  • where he/she sleeps
  • whether on or off leash walks/runs
  • what level of daily exercise should we plan for

House

  • access
  • alarms
  • wifi password
  • garbage/recycling
  • heat/fireplace instructions
  • parking access
  • snow removal details

General

  • Emergency contact info for house and dog(s)
  • Your date / time of departure and return

Rosey is so sweet!

rosey

I love that doggie greeting when you come home and a pooch is over the moon about it. The licking, whimpering, wagging… all things I’d rather see from a dog than from my husband!

Rosey didn’t disappoint when I arrived at her house last night. She promptly took me on a nice long walk around her neighbourhood. This morning, we explored the Valley Trail near her house – an area I’ve only quickly biked through, but never actually walked along.

Marketing on Facebook – a first for me

Those of you who know me probably consider me some sort of social media guru. I’ve taught courses on using Facebook, Twitter and Linked In for business.

adsHowever, I’ve never personally used Facebook advertising before this little venture, and I’m really quite interested in the results, and low cost for the exposure!

I started by having my ad show to anyone over 30 who lived in Whistler. Then, I invited my friends in Whistler to like the page, and set up an ad to show to their friends that they’d like my page.

Total spent so far: $9.64, for 48 clicks to my Facebook page, and 23 likes. Of the 56 people who like my page, only 33 of them are my Facebook friends. Pretty decent reach and exposure, given that I have such a specific target market!

Whistler Branded Dog (Poo) Waste Bags

doggie-bagI love love love that the Resort Municipality of Whistler provides plastic bags for dog owners (or sitters!) to pick up after their dogs! How thoughtful.

Ok – actually the thing I find the most amusing is that any entity would BRAND bags that are made for POO. There, I said it. That’s what I really think.

As a marketing professional (despite the fact that I’ve just written a blog post talking about dog poo), I find that incredibly funny. 🙂
